Good good good vibration!

Good good good vibration!

Remember that peppy Beach Boys song?

With all the crazy happenings in our country right now, I sure could use some good vibration.

What we are witnessing in our country right now is low vibrational behavior – arguments,

divisiveness, blaming, name calling, stirring up hate, anger, fear, worry, anxiety.

I think it is important to pay attention to what is happening in the world right now. Whether it is intentional or not, the effect of such chaotic activity and behavior is for us to get tired of it and shut down and go to sleep.

So, how do we engage without getting swept up in the fury?

First, it is important to hold the intent to stay grounded and rooted. This is an essential way of Being in order to navigate in a healthy high vibrational way – especially now. This root brings us into our essential truth, into our sovereignty, our discernment. It keeps us from spinning too far out. Notice I didn’t say “keeps us from spinning out”. I said, “too far out”.

Because I think you gotta be the Buddha or the Rock of Gibraltar to stay stable these days. But with a strong root we can come back to center oh so much quicker. The image that keeps popping in comes from that kid’s toy Weebles. Do you remember that from the 70’s? Little peoples with weighted rounded bottoms? Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down.

Prescription for Rooting and Grounding:

· Meditate on growing your taproot deep into the ground

· Walk in nature

· Walk barefoot in the grass or lie on the ground

· I find chopping vegetables very grounding

· Yours?

Second, when I choose to engage with the news, I use my magical practices of mindfulness to tend to my nervous system. I listen to my body’s response. When I get all tight and exasperated, I stop and tend to my nervous system – I breath, I listen to my inner voice, soothe my fear, worry, incredulousness. I may or may not decide to re-engage. But I let my bodily sense of discernment guide that movement.

Also I recommend choosing the news source that works for you. Some news sources really like to stir things up. It is helpful to remain open and curious. But I am also aware of the power of language and psychology – again this is where our powers of discernment are helpful.

Here is what is working for me. (Of course, choose what works for you)

I subscribe to 2 on-line newletters: one is Katie Couric’s eNewsletter. It comes daily and it is a balance of daily news articles, videos of interviews, and some positive upbeat sharing. She shares headlines and if you want to dive deeper into details, you click on the link and it takes you to the source (NY Times, Wall Street Journal, etc.)

The second newsletter if from Heather Cox Richardson from Letters from an American. She writes a daily essay and documents all her sources.

Third…. Good good good vibration! What moves ya, Baby? Dancing, singing, walking, laughing, engaging in a meaningful conversation with a friend, riding your bike, snuggling with your sweetie, kid or pet? Raise your energy and your vibration and share it with your peeps! We all need a positivity fix right now and for the unforeseeable future.

Maybe put on that Beach Boys song and sing along with me. And hit those high notes!

And enjoy the beauty of the day!
